Comfortable, but questionable durability By Rusty from San Francisco, CA on 08/04/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Great Traction, Non-slip sole Cons: Sole Wears Out Quickly Best Uses: Backcountry, Day hikes Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I just bought these shoes a couple of weeks ago, so this review is only based on 2 hikes. Here's what I've found:
PROS: Big comfy toe box - I'm a big fan of the fit in Salomon shoes. For whatever reason, they just fit my feet. These shoes are very comfortable - no blisters or anything. And the big lugs on soles give great traction.
CONS: Durability is never a strong point of Salomon shoes, but this is worse than usual. The soles one these shoes are already starting to get torn up - some of the lugs on the soles are starting to peel away after only 2 backpacking trips. I'm going to try gluing them back on and hope for they hold up better in the future.
Also, beware that the provided insoles don't provide much in the way of arch support. But if you're like me, you'll probably be replacing them with your own custom insoles anyway.
I would buy this product again and again By LUCKY from LODI , ITALY on 07/21/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Non-slip sole, Stable, Water Resistant Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: VERY GOOD PRODUCT
By mom to the scout from Overland Park, Kansas on 07/16/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Non-slip sole, Stable Best Uses: Backcountry, Day hikes, Everyday Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought these shoes for my son. He attends camp outs twice a month and he used them on a camping trip in Rocky Mountain National Park. He said the shoes were really light and felt great right out of the box. He is 12 and wears a men's size 10 shoe. He also likes that they don't make his feet hot. I would definitely buy him another pair.
