It is very comfortable. Our son has another name brand pad but not near as thick or comfortable. However, is much lighter and easy to use for backpacking. This pad is heavier than our tent! You wouldn't want to carry it very far! Since we plan to use it for only car camping it is perfect for us. We also have a Toyota Rav that we plan to just lay these pads in the back & use for sleeping when we don't want to take the tent. I originally just ordered one to see if we liked it & then ordered a second since the 1st was so comfortable.

This pad is somewhat difficult to roll up & put back into the stuff sack. The straps that come with it are useless after they come off the first time - would be much better with some elastic or a velcro closure
