By Stephanie from Millington, Tn on 11/08/2008 Cons: Not Enough Support, Not too breatheable, Stiff Describe Yourself: Gym Rat Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I wanted a casual shoe to wear around with jeans and such and I do not like wearing my regular, "white" work out shoes. I love how these look. Hopefully I can get them broken in, as they are very stiff. I had to add an insert b/c the footbed is lacking in cushion. (I got the same size I always get in a work out shoe and they fit perfect.)
By teacher from Madison, WI on 11/07/2008 Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels half size too small Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I'll be returning these. They do not fit like other New Balance shoes I have had in the past.
Nice shoe, runs small in size By Tenderfoot from Fort Collins, CO on 10/14/2008 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Lightweight Best Uses: Pavement, Track, Trails Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels full size too small Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Nice shoe. Might be a little narrow for some people (the width is fine for me but I have between AA to B width feet). The sizing definitely runs small by a half to a whole size (as many NB these days do); I ordered a half size larger and the fit is "okay" but only for lighter socks. (I may exchange them for one whole size larger than I usually wear in order to accommodate my orthotics and thicker winter socks.) Personally I would prefer to have more more arch support for plantar fasciitis problems (but I have my own orthotics I can use for that).
Otherwise, it's comfortable overall, with a nice all leather nubuck upper that doesn't seem prone to water spots, and the tread design won't pick up mud and rocks like some shoes do. Won't show dirt like my NB white tennies!
I have plantar fasciitis with arch and heel pain, and I've come to love New Balance shoes. It's helpful to know that they make different shoes with specific features designed to help with various foot problems (i.e over-pronation) as well as different types of activities, so NB's are definitely NOT all built the same. (I learned a lot from the New Balance website!)
