I have several pairs of the 3/4 length Shock Doctor insoles. They provide adequate heel and arch support in most nonathletic footwear (shoes, heels, boots) that I do not wear every day but still need support when worn. You do have to work with them to ensure the fit is right, but the difference is noticeable and worth it.

I had previously tried a rubbery one from the drugstore, but those were heavy and weighted down my heel when riding. This one is great!
