I like them a lot but can not really use mid weight hiking socks... but then they are approach shoes, not hiking shoes!
They are well made, look great, and can be laced tight or loose as one wishes.

I had to get a 10.5 and I normally wear an 11 or 11.5, but I also wanted them to be a bit more snug for better rock performance. I like the asymetric lacing and you can tighten them up pretty well although one more eyelet at the toe wouldn't hurt. I'll use em for my next approach and for climbing stuff up to 5.6 or so.
