By Tonto from Bremerton, WA on 09/28/2008 Pros: Accurate, Compact, Reliable Performance Cons: Complicated Controls, Difficult To Read Best Uses: Backcountry Camping, Survival Describe Yourself: Backcountry Ski Patrol, Gearhead, Outdoor Enthusiast, Professional Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: This compass did not come with a single piece of paper to describe how to use it. Although intimately familiar with the Silva Ranger-style compasses, I'd never used a lensatic type. Many of its best features are wasted without some sort illustration/instruction. The standard (intuitive) functions are just as well served with a $5.00 basic compass.
