Comments: Ordered the compass because it is lightweight and includes sighting mirror (good for signaling too) and magnifying part (aid for tired eyes), boxy but replacing these items that I usually carry separately. Problem is that I couldn't get a reliable compass reading when I tried it out at home - the needle stuck in various incorrect positions (binding needle or static in plastic case?) - so I did not have confidence in using it on a trip. It happens to float freely and read correctly at this instant, but my decades-old Boy Scout compass still works well all the time.
