The fleece lining keeps all but the tiniest bit of wool off your forehead. A little wool does touch your skin around the bottom edge, which doesn't bother me but if you are very sensitive to wool it might itch.

It does run small, fitting me snugly, and I have a small head as far as adult head sizes go :)
