Stylish look but not very functional

Comments: The shoe is stylish but stiff and lacks adequate arch support for a real day hike. It runs not quite a half-size short which I found odd since I have 2 pair of Merrell shoes and don't have that problem. I just adjusted the thickness of the sock worn. The shoe is fine for wearing for several hours but it lacks the characteristics that are synonymous with the Merrell name.

Comments: I bought a pair of these exact shoes (different color) 4 years ago, and wanted another pair for an upcoming trip to Disneyworld. I was ecstatic to find them on this site, and bought them in the same size as before, immediately. I wore them a couple of days and thought the tightness and too small feeling was due to them being new. I wore them off and on for 2 full weeks before my trip, then took them along with me for the intense amount of walking I would be doing. I was very disappointed that these never really "broke in". They felt too short for my toes because they kept rubbing the front of the shoe. I normally wear a size 7 1/2, and I ordered an 8, the same size as I had in the exact same Merrell's before, but I could've used another 1/2 size up. I don't know if Merrell has changed their sizing in the past few years, but be advised. By the time I had worn them several days to try and break them in, I thought it was too late to make a return, since they were obviously worn. In the days that I did wear them, they rubbed against both little toes as well. These, for some strange reason, were not as "out of the box" comfortable as the ones I had bought previously. I will be trying a different Merrell style next time.
