Best glove I've ever owned! By skiman from Mt Hood Oregon on 05/31/2008 Pros: Durable, Good Grip, Snug Fit, Water Resistant, Windproof Best Uses: Backcountry, Downhill Describe Yourself: Competitive Athlete Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is all around the best Alpine Ski glove I've ever owned. I just bought 3 more pair even though my first pair, 3 years old, is still in great shape. I never want to be without this glove. It is NOT for skiing in very cold conditions (below 10 -15 degrees f.) but for all other conditions it is perfect. Nice tight fit, windproof, waterproof. I average almost 100 days skiing per season on Mt Hood in Oregon. We average more than 500 inches of snow per season and the wind is frequently in the 25MPH gusting to 40's with typical temps between 15 and 35 degrees. I have never gotten cold fingers. In fact I often take the gloves off while riding the lifts to avoid sweating them up and making them wet inside. The gloves have a great long gauntlet that is easy to tighten to keep powder out (and we get a LOT of powder - more than 50 days of knee deep or more pow this season). The gloves are light enough to also work well as a back country touring tele glove or XC glove in cold conditions or for the more casual tourer - but are far to warm for me to ski xc in since I stride or skate at race pace so wear only thin unlined gloves for that. The gloves also found duty this year for my outdoor snowblowing chores.
By Pete from Denver on 12/30/2007 Pros: Durable, Good Grip, Snug Fit, Water Resistant, Windproof Best Uses: Backcountry, Cross Country, Downhill, Freestyle Describe Yourself: Advanced Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I am continually impressed with the quality of Black Diamond Equipment, and the Glissade Glove is no exception; however, if you want a severe cold weather glove, get something else. There is no liner. My fingers got cold relatively quickly in 0 degree weather, and I had to switch to my backup gloves. This glove is ideal for warmer winter days when waterproof dexterity is vital. They are probably a little overkill for the urban jungle. Since my fingers got cold in the backup gloves, I will keep the Glissades and add a mitten to my backpack for the really cold days.
By zeb from Minnesota on 12/05/2007 Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I purchaed these gloves for use in the backcountry, skiing, or as back-up ice climbing gloves. It snowed yesterday, so I threw them on to go shovel the driveway and sidewalk. The temp was well within the suggested range for this product. My hands were freezing within minutes! I was even doing something very active and heat-generating. If I can't use these to shovel the sidewalk for 20 minutes, how can I use them for winter activities lasting all day?
