For the money that Sierra Trading Post (STP) is asking, this 3 person tent is almost a steal at about [$]Nowhere else can you find a 3 person tent of this high quality and light weight for the money. Sierra Designs has a lifetime warranty should anything break or rip. My tent sustained a 3 day downpour at about 11,000 feet in Colorado, just below timberline, with 30 MPH winds. Temps were about 34 F at night. Not one drop penetrated. Need to leave the fly partly open as designed to minimize condensation. The 2007 tent that STP is selling is much better then the 2008 model. The 2007 tent poles collapse smaller and are lighter, the center hub is metal and not plastic. Also, the tent fabric is of better quality (inflation is even getting to the manufactures). Set up is real quick and easy. This feature is well appreciated during a driving rain. This tent has the largest vestibules in its class, great for 3 adults, a mansion for 2. Yup, there are lighter 3 person tents, but they have less interior space and cost much more [...] There are larger [@] but these are heavier and cost more. But none are better constructed. The interior design for head room could have been better, but, are you willing to pay twice as much more for it?
By Outdoors from Colorado on 06/26/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Easy to set up, Fly Works Well, Lightweight, Sturdy, Waterproof Best Uses: Backpacking, Beach, Car Camping, Hiking, Mountaineering Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Great Tent. Very easy to set up. Plenty of room for 3 people. The only negative aspect is that the top of the tent is completely mesh, so many times you will want to use the fly to block the sun, for privacy, etc. and the fly only has 2 places for ventilation. Setting up under the trees would solve most of the problems if there are trees. Overall, I'm very happy with the tent.
