Cotton too heavy for summer hiking and backpacking,takes forever to dry. I'll try them in the cooler months to see if they work out better.

But I like them just fine and bring them along whenever I go camping and hiking. They are nice to have for variable weather, because they aren't super lightweight but the shorts are bearable if the sun starts baring down. For the price, a good deal.
