The wide knit seems to trap body heat.
Wouldn't be warm enough for ice fishing or watching an outdoor winter sporting event

It starts to fray and fuzz up after washing though, but let's face it - this isn't made of the finest angora yarn. This is a cheap cool looking hat that won't break the bank if you lose it.
