Wind can't cut through the leather and the back flap covers the neck well. A Deep hat which can be disconcerting at first, but you get used to it.

It was very "deep" and, when pulled on, it almost covered my eyes. It wasn't too big, as the circumfrance was spot-on; it just was cut odd.
That said, it is a very well made and warm hat. Much nicer than similar hats I've owned. I suggest you try this hat if you like the style. Maybe I have a weird shaped head.
