The upper part stays up with no problem (a frequent problem with other arm warmers in my experience- I've owned about six pair in the past). It is very strongly constructed and very warm. Unfortunately, the model I got was pink and my wife and son won't let me keep it. I thought it looked fine, but they had issues with the color on a guy. Their hang-up, not mine.

The fit is comfortable and I love the little wrist pockets for money or a gel. I wear these on longer rides as they are pretty easy to remove while cycling and fold up neatly into a back packet or pouch.
