By Kara's mom- from Silver Spring Maryland on 08/13/2008 Describe Yourself: Long-Time Pet Owner Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: My medium dog when tethered, gets caught up in the retractable, thin line type leash. This Ruff Wear Roamer cannot wrap around her legs, so is not dangerous, and is comfortable on the hand.
By Suzy-Q from Ohio on 08/12/2008 Pros: Attractive, Durable, Easy To Attach Best Uses: Everday, Larger Dogs Describe Yourself: Long-time Pet Owner Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Durable and love the extra loop for her tags. My Great Dane seems to like it too!!!
Great but on the heavy side By Whiskey's owner from Arlington, VA on 08/11/2008 Describe Yourself: Long-Time Pet Owner Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend This is a great collar for those of you who want to try a martingale-style collar (one that cinches in slightly when the dog pulls if attached to a specific ring - this is extremely helpful for a dog that tries to pull out of his/her collar and for one who can slip out of a regular collar for having a slender head. Note - the collar stays slack and loose when not in use on a leash)
Anyhow, this is a neat collar - love that my medum dog (a slender husky) gets the comfort of the wider collar for his size - that is really great. I also like the sound effect of the chain - you can give a little correction to catch his attention with the chain's jingle.
The only thing I don't like is that the chain seems heavier than it needs to be - I doubt my dog could break a chain of a slightly lesser gauge, so I wonder if it's weight is necessary. If your dog has neck or back troubles, I'd stay away from this collar and go with a traditional martingale and really work with your dog on instantly recognizing a specific voice cue to get his attention.
Good luck!
