By Lisa from Wading River, NY on 09/02/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Stable Best Uses: Day hikes, Everyday, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: As soon as I opened the box, I was like "wow these are really cool shoes"! I was a little concerned that the shoes were a little big, but once I adjusted the laces, they were perfect. They took a little while to get used to the fit and feel, but now I wear them every day when I go for my 5 mile walk and just heading out & about. I've only owned the shoes for a couple of weeks but am heading up to Canada for the winter and can't wait to test them on the hiking trails and snow. Super comfy, so happy I chose these shoes!

By Jonathan S. from Amherst, Mass. on 08/06/2008 Cons: Heavy, Too Much Flex Describe Yourself: Competitive Athlete Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Garmont's Dynafit-compatible MegaRide is a deservedly popular boot (with lots of new competition from Dynafit and Scarpa), but unfortunately as of now (Aug 6, 2008), stp doesn't carry any. Except for the Dynamite, all the Garmont AT boots stp currently carries lack Dynafit compatibility, so they condemn any skier to using much heavier bindings (and which are even heavier in a dynamic sense, since each skinning stride entails pivoting the binding, not just the boot).
The Dynamite is a shorter, lighter version of the MegaRide. Unfortunately, the Dynamite isn't much lighter, yet it is noticeably softer.
Still, it would definitely appeal to some skiers, but the version here has the economy/pricepoint liner, so the overall boot weight is even *heavier* than the stiffer MegaRide.
However, stp does have lots of good deals on lighter thermomoldable (both Garmont and Scarpa), so with aftermarket liners, this could end up being a good choice.
