By Upstate Jim from Syracuse, New York on 08/15/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Stylish, Tough Best Uses: Poor Weather, Protection, Racing, Street Riding Motorsports: Casual Rider, Competitive Rider, Motorcycle Enthusiast Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Excellent overall helmet. I ordered a size larger as everyone recommmended and found the fit to be great. This is a large helmet but has a lot of features (vents, sun shield, snap buckle). I don't see the lack of a D-ring closure as a disadvantage as some reviewers have stated.
By MotoPyscho from Oregon on 07/29/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Stylish, Tough Best Uses: Long Rides, Protection Motorsports: Motorcycle Enthusiast Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is a quiet helmet and very aero dynamic. Cuts down on buffeting.
By meatclub from Fairbanks, AK on 07/20/2008 Best Uses: Long Rides, Off-Road, Poor Weather Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I have a large head according to the chart, but bought an extra large per the recommendations. The helmet fits snug, is more comfortable than any I tried on at the bike shops around town, and doesen't have some silly design. Highly recommended.
Good helmet, strange visor By LotusGt111 from Fairfax, VA on 07/07/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Lightweight, Stylish, Tough Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Great helmet, very satisfied with it, the only thing I don't like is the sun visor, it is a little flimsy and doesn't function like it should, so I just don't use it. Other than that I love it!
Awesome helmet, well worth it!! By nomadak from Fairbanks, AK on 05/30/2008 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Stylish, Tough Best Uses: Long Rides, Poor Weather, Protection Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend When I first pulled this helmet out of the box and tried it on I was going to rate the Schuberth 4 stars. It seemed a little tight and the buckle system was kinda weird. But after riding with this for a week, I have concluded this is the best helmet money can buy. You won't find a quieter helmet out there. I rode 120 mi. one day and didn't even need ear plugs. It's super comfortable, vents well and is stylishish as hell.
A note on sizing: If you are concerned about sizing, go to a hat store and try on some Indiana Jones style hats. If a large fits well, not too snug, then a large schuberth should fit you fine. If a large hat is even the slightest bit tight, then I would suggest getting an XL. In other words, half sizes definately round up. Also note that the helmet might seem too tight at first. After a few days of use, the helmet will break in a bit and it won't seem so bad. It also helps to squeeze (hard) and hold the (buckle) straps back with the inside of your thumbs as you put the helmet on and take it off.
I hope this info. helps the next buyer out there. I was on the fence a long time about buying this, but I'm sure glad I did!
By Long Day Rider from CT on 05/26/2008 Pros: Abrasion Resistant, Tough Cons: Bulky, Uncomfortable Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Bought this helmet after reading some good reviews, but sent it back immediately after trying it on. It is very heavy, uncomfortable and quality is not that good. There are much better choices.
By FJR Rider from Portage, MI on 05/16/2008 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Lightweight, Stylish Best Uses: Long Rides, Poor Weather, Protection, Racing, Street Riding Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Most comfortable helmet I have owned. Fit is snug and it's very light weight. The sun visor is nice but it has a coating and scratches easily. Shield is optically great. Vents are very good.
By SpartySAM from East Lansing, Michigan on 05/07/2008 Pros: Nice added features, Quiet, Tough, Well-built Cons: Bulky, Difficult to put on, Runs small 1-2 sizes Best Uses: Long Rides, Protection, Street Riding Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: In motorcycling (especially around BMW riders), there has always been a mystique about Schuberth helmets. Many consider them to one of the best, if not the best on the market. However, these helmets have "suffered" from two problems - relatively limited availability and price. So, when Sierra Trading Post ran this special, i jumped at the chance. There are several good things about the helmet. It is very well built. It does offer an interesting feature in the flip down sun visor. Road and wind noise is relatively low (thanks to the curtain at the base of the helmet). However, this is not the perfect helmet. First, there is the weight. Of all my helmets (I use Arai - Quantum II, Shoei - Multitech), and a Schuberth C2 flip-down), this helmet is one of the heaviest. Second, there is the problem of putting it on. One of the past reviewers got it right -- it is "fun" trying to shove your head through the opening at the base. The reason is that the curtain at the bas of the helmet (the thing that reduces wind noise and the up flow of cold air on a ride) also acts as a constraint. Then there is the issue of the overall fit. After using a number of helmets, I have come to the conclusion that there are different shapes of head and that many helmet manufacturers pick one shape over another (except for Arai, which manufactures their helmets in one of three shapes). Schuberth is designed for a long oval head. My head is best described as a round oval. As a result, when I wear the helmet, I can feel my ears being squeezed (not unpleasant, just noticeable). Finally, cleaning the sun visor is fun (I would recommend S100 as a cleaner). It has to be kept clear to ensure that it is usable. Overall, how does this helmet fair? It is a keeper. It has worked its way into my riding as being one of the ones that I alternate with my Arai Quantum II and my Multitech). Just be aware -- it is somewhat heavy, it is sized small (I wear an XL but had to go to a 2XL) and it is designed for a long oval. However, given the quality, the price and the reputation, you have a winner.
By plowboy from missouri on 05/07/2008 Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Heavier than any helmet I have worn. Large is cumbersome getting on and off my 7 1/8 inch head. No tab on the face shield for easy glove lifting. Will return
