True craftsmanship and fine leather By tenderfoot from NC on 08/12/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Non-slip sole, Stable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Backcountry, Cold weather, Field work, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This boot is like riding in a luxury car. Plush, leather lined top rim to gently hug the ankle. A little stiff but will break in nicely and I don't expect any blisters. Other boots earned my trailname of "tenderfoot".

Great deal but sizing off... By Nicole the Naturalist from Gazelle, CA on 07/06/2008 Best Uses: Didn't use product Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels full size too small Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Raichle is a great brand and this is why I decided to buy this product. However, the quoted statement sizes run large order one size smaller doesn't seem to be true. I tried my boots on without socks and they were already too small for my feet. Great constructed product just order your correct size.

I buy these boots again and again. By LN from Boulder, CO on 06/20/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Non-slip sole, Stable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Back packing off trail, Backcountry, Backpacking, Day hikes Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels half size too big Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend I have been using Raichle boots for the past 10 years. They fit perfectly. I did not have to break them, and went to climb a 13er on an 8 hours hike.
They might be heavier than new style boots, but they are sturdy and the soles have a shape that rolls and gives a spring to the step. Wonderful.
Plus they have a classic timeless look that I like.
By Georgia girl from Thomson, GA on 05/26/2008 Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels full size too big Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I was confused by the sizing in the catalog. Both European and US sizes were shown. Then, for size selection, only one was listed but I couldn't tell WHICH one - European or US. I guessed wrong!!!! They are sold by European sizes!!! Good to know!!!!

By Off trail wanderer from Flagstaff, AZ on 04/28/2008 Pros: Durable, Great Traction, Non-slip sole, Stable, Sturdy, Water Resistant Cons: Hard to break in, Heavy Best Uses: Backcountry, Cold weather, Day hikes, Mountaineering, Off trial hiking, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels full size too big Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These will be great when I break them in! I wanted hardy boots for off trail hinking on rocks & uneven ground -- I got them! They are extremely stiff & will take months to break in for my size 5 foot, I feel like I'm walking on boards for now. These are for serious hikiers, not "out of the box" ready. If you want a super sturdy boot, these are the ones!
Award winning, serious backpacking boot By Vazaidoc from Sunnyvale, CA, USA on 03/22/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Non-slip sole, Stable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Backcountry, Cold weather, Day hikes, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The ideal, most comfortable three season backpacking boot I and my wife have owned for several years, hiking for extended trips in all types of terrain and weather. They can also work very well in winter (caution, Vibram type sole skids on ice!). We now repurchased them again from STP to complement the older, identical pairs we've had. There are two, almost identical styles available at STP (unable to differentiate online, they have the same p/n): darker brown leather and lighter brown leather, the latter style being marked "motion control". However, both types do have motion control, according to the Swiss manufacturer's description, but I like the lighter color better, as it has slightly thicker ankle cushioning, and a newer type liner and insole. We like that these boots are slightly stiffer and have a stronger type sole than the current year model (2007-2008). They are just a touch narrower in the toe box, compared with 2007-8 model. One of the best Raichle backpacking boots ever! After breaking it in, expect years of unparalleled quality, comfort and performance! Check the ratings on the net for other peoples' opinions. Make sure you maintain them regularly (cleaning, waxing etc). You will not be disappointed! [...]
