Handle broke off with initial charging By Norskei from Indianapolis, IN on 08/13/2008 Best Uses: Backpacking, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Bought this primarily for camping or traveling for recharging my phone or for emergency recharging, radio and light. First of all, none of the adapters fit my phone (Motorola Razr), then when performing the initial 10min crank charge of the rechargeable batteries as my fingers were cramping from winding and winding and winding, the crank broke off. Not good.
By Lite guy from Asheville NC on 08/13/2008 Best Uses: Have on shelf for back up Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Flashlite is ok. Seems to take a lot of cranking to charge the battery...and it doesn't seem to hold that charge when not using. Overall, it seems like a durable light.
By Gramma from Miami, FL on 08/04/2008 Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: we haven't had an emergency since I received it, but I feel much more secure knowing that I will not be cut off from the world when the ext hurricane hits.
By Phil from Savannah, GA on 07/25/2008 Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: This was a great radio. I really liked this radio when i first recived it until the crank handel for the rechargeable battery broke off on the second day of use. I was even trying to be gentle so it wouldnt break. I wish it was made of some stronger material rather than this cheap plastic.
By jun from australia on 03/12/2008 Pros: Feels good in hand, Good quality plastic Cons: Bettery switch, Few phone can use it Best Uses: Backpacking, Car Camping, Day trip Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: It's a good idea to have a hand crank charger for mobile phone, an with may other handy functions such as radio, touch, buzzer...
Cons:
The battery switch for (dry/rechargeable) doesn't work very well due to the quality, may have some contact problem.
didn't provide an external AC power charger for the in-built rechargeable battery, though there's a DC input for it.
For the mobile charger, it works well for my Nokia, the for other brands you may need different adapters, and I have no idea where you can get them. They only provide Nokia, Samsung and LG adapters.
Charges your phone, if you're lucky By ginger lee frank from Cincinnati, USA on 03/03/2008 Comments: I have a very common Motorola flip phone but none of the adapters supplied with this unit fit it. Went to [@] to try to buy an adapter for the adapters, without success. So the phone charging function is useless to me, as is (which is the principal reason I bought it). Also, wish it were not red; would have preferred black, charcoal, tan, green, olive, yellow.
"works good... if you can use it" By Nate the stocking stuffer from Salt Lake City on 12/13/2007 Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Comments: It would have been helpful if the description had listed the types of phones for which the charger was compatable. ordering things online is often a gamble, so as much information in the ad as possible is appreciated.
