good poles
By lsusaints7Verified Purchaser from Baton rouge, LA on 5/1/2008
Pros:
Lightweight
Best Uses:
Backpacking, Day trip, Hiking
Describe Yourself:
Professional Guide
What Is Your Gear Style:
Minimalist
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Comments:
Good poles. They do have smaller grips. The wrist strap is great and they have the carbide tip which is superior to the steel tip found on a lot of poles. The are very light compared to other poles. I prefer cork grips to the foam grips, but to each their own. The worthless compass in the grip fell out the first time we used them.

Work as advertised
By Mary the hikerVerified Purchaser from Boulder, CO on 4/10/2008
Pros:
Easy to adjust, Good grips, Lightweight, Strong
Cons:
Hard to switch baskets
Best Uses:
Backpacking, Day trip, Hiking
Describe Yourself:
Casual/ Recreational
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Comments:
Still haven't been able to remove summer baskets which came with poles to replace with winter ones. Three different people have tried. Directions do not come with the poles (or winter baskets)--I received some from an online request--but they don't work. Plan to take poles into REI and ask for help.

The little mud flaps at the bottom wouldn't stay on. I finally took them off. I'm still not sure what they are for. Otherwise, I would give the product 5 stars.

Flexible pros and cons
By Ann from PDX on 3/3/2008
Pros:
Flexible, Good grips, Lightweight, Strong
Cons:
Collapses Too Easily, Hard to adjust, Tip Protectors Fall Off
Best Uses:
Day trip, Hiking, Snowshoeing
Describe Yourself:
Casual/ Recreational
What Is Your Gear Style:
Comfort Driven
Comments:
These have been used twice for snowshoeing. They were a great price at an extra 20% off and so were the optional snow baskets. Otherwise, the rating would be 3 stars, not 4. I wanted a compact size but it comes at a cost. Like one of the mens pole reviews, a black plastic bushing moved and is stuck. Also, depending on weather and humidity they either collapse a few times a day (over 4 hours) or get stuck. After being packed a few weeks, they were hard to lenghthen yesterday. Sometimes a rubber jar opener helps but other times, I had to ask a (male) friend to help. Perhaps they will be more accomodating for warm weather trecking.
