Lacing mechanism is a fabulous! By workout warrior from Oneonta, NY on 07/31/2008 Pros: Attractive Design, Comfortable, Easy to slip on and off Best Uses: Pavement, Trails Describe Yourself: Gym Rat Sizing: Feels half size too small Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought these for the gym, but quickly decided to wear them throughout the day. They feel great for trail running and I get a kick out of putting them on and taking them off. My shoe size is 10.5 and am happy with size 11.
I would not recommend them for gym work that requires sudden change of direction or weight shifting because the tread design does not grip well on smooth wet surfaces. They are great outside.

Light, cool, and ultra-fast on and off By Outdoor enthusiast from Seattle, WA on 05/14/2008 Pros: Attractive Design, Comfortable, Speedy on off adjust Best Uses: Endurance Training, Pavement, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels half size too small Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Now THIS is a technological improvement: instead of laces, well chanelled cables perfectly balance the tension to hold your foot at perfect support levels, a dial in the back tightens the shoe in a second or less. Pull the knob, and you are released and out of the shoe super-fast. This really works. Then the shoe is well built, aerated, offers good support, and is a nice light weight for jogging. My only beef is idiosyncratic: I have a long big toe, and it stubs a bit, even in the half size bigger shoe; so this shoe will work best if you have a regular, square foot.
By Benny mc-multisport from Ohio on 04/10/2008 Pros: Attractive Design, Comfortable, Durable, Good Padding Cons: Heel could cause blister Best Uses: Endurance Training, Trails Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels half size too small Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Got the shoes yesterday and they are super comfy out of the box. Ran in them today and they felt really good, super light weight compared to previous North Face running shoes I've worn (Ultras, Boa XCR) I felt like I could go for ever! Plenty of traction, and a good cushion system for trail runnning and even pavement. Plenty breathable. The heel is the spot others and I too have noticed was a problem, it feels odd and made me sore on my 4 mile run, but no blister, I suspect after break in the problem will resolve. The Boa lace system is great, good even pull and easy. they are so comfy I've been wearing them all day. runs small about half a size.

If the "laces" break not sure what will happen, but they are very stylish and comfortable shoes. The North Face has very durable shoes!
