I planned to run in them, but I think that they are a bit too stiff for me. I will get alot of use just wearing them, though, and I love the way they look. Lots of room in the toe box.
I ordered a 7.5 and normally wear a 7. I am glad I went up- they fit great.
a good shoe in theory.... By johnsonable from Flagstaff, AZ on 09/14/2008 Pros: Great Traction, Stable Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I loved the IDEA of these shoes; the asymmetrical lacing, strong arch support, big toe box, and rugged sole; but they just didn't work for me.
The arch was painful instead of helpful, and the shoe felt way too narrow everywhere but the toe box, which felt huge. They felt heavy just walking around - forget running in them. My feet hurt almost immediately after putting them on and it felt like even my circulation was suffering. I don't have unusually shaped or sized feet, and this is the first time I've been this uncomfortable in a pair of shoes. They felt like they would never break in.
I returned them and bought a pair of The North Face 104 trail runners, and am much happier with those.
By Lisa from Wading River, NY on 09/02/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Stable Best Uses: Day hikes, Everyday, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: As soon as I opened the box, I was like "wow these are really cool shoes"! I was a little concerned that the shoes were a little big, but once I adjusted the laces, they were perfect. They took a little while to get used to the fit and feel, but now I wear them every day when I go for my 5 mile walk and just heading out & about. I've only owned the shoes for a couple of weeks but am heading up to Canada for the winter and can't wait to test them on the hiking trails and snow. Super comfy, so happy I chose these shoes!

By mountain mama from Bailey, CO on 08/04/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Stable Best Uses: Day hikes, Everyday Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I use these for everyday, which is perfect since I live in the CO mountains and walk on trails or dirt roads every day. The traction is great and they are very supportive. I am usually pretty picky about arch support in shoes and I've had no reason to complain about these not having enough.
By Kate from Tampa, FL on 07/31/2008 Pros: Durable, Great Traction Best Uses: Day hikes, Everyday Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I really like the way these shoes look. The look different, a little funky. I ordered a two sizes 7.5 and an 8. My normal shoe size is a 7.5. Both sizes rub the back of my heel. And the 7.5's were not to long. Unfortunately, they just didn't work for me.
Breathable, comfortable, sturdy... By ruthie from central PA on 07/24/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Non-slip sole, Stable Best Uses: Day hikes, Everyday Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Got these and a pair of the Garmont "Naughty", too. Basically the same shoe except these are mesh in greenish-yellow and grey and the Naughtys are leather in greenish-yellow only. They both fit, feel and perform great. I almost kept these, but I settled on one pair and the Naughtys won out because I preferred their look. I liked the funky look of both shoes, but these Nastys were just a little too funky for my 51 year old taste.
By Trail Runner from Dillon, MT on 07/21/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Non-slip sole Cons: Sole is somewhat hard Best Uses: Backcountry, Day hikes Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Bought these shoes to run trail runs and can't wait to get out and run. I have been wearing my shoes around to break them in but do not seem to need any. Great shoe, would like a little more padding for your foot without having to add extra in-sole but seem great so far!!
By jill from zion grove, pa on 07/07/2008 Pros: Durable, Great Traction, Non-slip sole, Stable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Day hikes, Everyday Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels half size too big Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: As other's have said, the arch support in this shoe is intense... having low arches myself, I think this will be an asset. But I've only worn the shoes a couple times so I have yet to see how they wear in. They do feel mildly stiff, which is ok in a hiking shoe. I love how the shoes look... very cool. However I also agree that they appear mildly long, and felt a bit long on me too. However, Garmont makes their shoes to have extra toe-room (a big plus). They are comfortable so far and great for day-hikes... good traction and supportive for a low-shoe.
