Right-priced Wading Shoes By halffast fisherman from Burney, CA on 06/12/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Dries Easily, Good Grip, Lightweight Describe Yourself: Avid Fisher Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I have only worn the wading shoes one time on a day trip fly fishing but I am favorably impressed. Good grip on wet rocks, dried quickly, fit well. An excellent value! Not crazy about the 'D' ring eyes and would like a little longer shoelace, but that is easily corrected.
By The Central Scrutinizer from Sacramento, CA on 05/29/2008 Cons: Causes Blisters, Poor Grip Describe Yourself: Beginner Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Since I am a novice fly-fisherman, and I didn't want to spend a ton of money, I decided to try these boots on the Pit River in California.
Although they felt comfortable when I first put them on, I found that they stretched out almost immediately when they got wet, which did not enhance my ability to balance on the large and slippery rocks in the Pit.
The soles look like rain boots that someone had randomly decided to decorate with a couple of pieces of felt. This meant that the actual contact area of the sole was quite small, and the raised heel made them feel very unstable in the river. It was impossible to enjoy fishing while feeling at any minute I was going to be knocked off my feet by the current!
I will definitely look for a different boot after I return these - thanks to Sierra Trading Post's guarantee, I can eventually get the right boots.
By Big D from Yorba Linda, CA on 05/26/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Lightweight Best Uses: Freshwater Fishing, Saltwater Fishing Describe Yourself: Casual Fisher Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: So far, I've tried them on over my breathable waders and they're surprisingly comfortable. I ordered my normal shoe size and they fit fine over my wader booties.
much heavier and less compactable By Riverrat Rich from Columbus, OH on 05/08/2008 Best Uses: Fly Fishing, Freshwater Fishing Describe Yourself: Avid Fisher Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Bought these for compactability, my other wading boots are Patagonia(great boot for long trips), these boots/shoes I thought would be easier to put in suitcase for quick trips. Better, but still to rigid to pack down.
By Brian from Central Pennsylvania on 04/21/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Dries Easily, Good Grip, Lightweight Best Uses: Fly Fishing, Freshwater Fishing Describe Yourself: Avid Fisher Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend I've worn these once so far and I am pleased with them. The felt soles grip well on stone stream bottoms and they dry fairly quickly. They lace up easily and provide reasonable support.
Sizing: I normally wear a size 11, but I bought the size 10 and they fit well with a pair of regular socks and neoprene waders.
Good quality overall but way too large! By Maria from Ar on 04/01/2008 Best Uses: Work stream monitoring Describe Yourself: Professional Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: These shoes are just way too large! I even took the advice of another customer reviewer and ordered 2 sizes smaller than I typically wear. If I hadn't needed to use them ASAP I would have returned them.
Order the size shoe you wear By BULLETinmyshoulder from Cross Lanes, West Virginia on 03/31/2008 Describe Yourself: Avid Fisher Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I have used these many times. Im thinking about buying another pair to have when my pair get worn out.
