It is as thick as swimsuit material but not sewn in a fitted style. I felt trapped in this, it was fighting me the minute I put it on. Possible uses for this are over a swimsuit when water skiing or jet-skiing. Or possibly whitewater rafting when you need something thicker that insulates.
