By RJC from Houston, TX on 11/07/2008 Describe Yourself: Getting Started Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I don't climb, but I want a few real caribiners around. These were priced right, look good, and will certainly meet any needs I will have.
The reason I don't rate them a 5 is that my review should not really count for anyone wanting caribiners for climbing purposes.
great biner for the price! By Strap from Utah on 07/21/2008 Best Uses: Long Climbs, Outdoor Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I use these carabiners for top roping with my kids.

By Ian from Walla Walla, WA on 04/27/2008 Best Uses: Anchors, Belaying, Indoor, Outdoor Describe Yourself: Avid Climber Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Good biner for the price. Good for anything you need a locker for: anchors or belaying.
I like it, but beware the lock mechanism By climbing fool from Albuquerque, NM on 03/27/2008 Pros: Completely snagless nose, Great clipper, Great design, LIGHT, Snappy gate Best Uses: Anchors, Clipping first bolt Describe Yourself: Avid Climber Comments: I'd give this 5 stars, but for one thing: when the collar is fully locked, a 1/2 - 3/4 twist will unlock it. This seems like a thin safety margin, but I might change my mind. This might be an advantage on a sport draw. We'll see!
Same mass as Petzl Spirit, better nose design, great price, finely constructed. If only I could trust it to remain locked...if you buy this, watch that gate!
By Darris of Cincinnati from Las Vegas, Nevada on 03/24/2008 Pros: Attractive, Durable, Simple, Top Quality Best Uses: Indoor, Sprint Climbs Describe Yourself: Getting Started Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: To be honest, I use the Simond Spider Screw Gate Carabiner as a key chain holder. It attaches to my belt loops or backpack.
I used to use cheap non-bearing ones but they start to wear out and look terrible fast. The above Simond Carabiner has been great. I think it will work well for climbing but I have not tested it in that way. I climb very little.
The only con I know of is every day use seems to ding and scrach the finish a little. For 10 to 15 dollars this is an acceptible con.
Note: Although this "screw gate" Carabiner works the Simond "straight gate" would be better for a key chain holder; which I have on order. Images shared by: Darris of CincinnatiMy use of The Simond Spider Carabiner. Tags: Using Product Close up of Carabiner. Tags: Picture of Product
