Comments: Good fit, comfortable for walking with good traction on slopes. The only drawback was the size. I had to return the boots to get 1/2 size bigger. Interesting since I bought a pair of hiking/walking shoes - same brand - where my normal size fit perfectly.
Merrell Outland Hiking Boots - Waterproo
By JT Hiker from Dallas on 6/19/2008
Sizing:
Feels half size too small
Width:
Feels true to width
Pros:
Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Non-slip sole, Stable
Cons:
Not Water Resistant
Best Uses:
Backcountry, Cold weather, Day hikes
Describe Yourself:
Avid Adventurer
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Comments: I ordered 1/2 size larger, I find that Merrell runs small if you are wearing heavy hiking socks. They are definitely not waterproof and have low water resistance, ended up getting totally soaked through when hiking in Glacier Park in snowy or damp areas (month of June). I did not break them in before taking on hiking trip and had no problem with blisters, very comfortable from day 1

Comments: I can't wait to get out and really put my new boots to the test. I typically wear a 9.5 shoe and purchased the 10, they fit great with a pair of smartwool socks.
Very comfortable if ordered bigger size

Comments: I ordered nearly a size bigger: I wear 7.5 - 8 Medium and I got 8.5 M. They are perfect on me - they embraced my feet. Note that the width is, probably, a little to narrow side, as my feet are, too. If your feet are full the boots may feel narrow.

Cons:
Full size too small
Best Uses:
Never got to wear them
Describe Yourself:

Bottom Line:

Comments: I order these in a 9.5. (One full size bigger than my size 8.5 foot) They were too tight in the toe box. I then ordered a size 10. I was extremely annoyed that these seemed even smaller than the first pair. Now I have two pairs of boots to send back. I gave up ordering hiking boots on-line and went to a store where I could actually try them on. Merrell seems to be taking the same route as other manufacters to cut cost and compromise quality. Shame on you.

Comments: used without breaking in on a three day backpacking trip and they were PERFECT. These boots fit like they were old favorites. No blisters , no rubbing. Order a size up if you have never bought Merrell before. Price is SIGNIFICANT discount from local store that had same boots. Waterproof worked without leakage in wet northern michigan spring, through snow, stream and mud. Very stable ankle support was a big plus as well.

Comments: Very comfortable right out of the box. I doubt it will take long to break these in. There's a lot of support in the heel and the laces can be adjusted to a comfy fit. I'm very happy with this purchase!
