I also use mid and heavier weight versions. Wool terry on the outside is hard to get used to but seems to work.

By David from Palmdale, CA on 06/02/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Good Design, Regulates Temperature Well Best Uses: Daily Use, Travel, Work Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Have used Rohner for several years and they have proven to be very durable and comfortable. I thought they were pricey, but they last a long time; good value. I purchased large for my 8.5 shoe size and they fit well.
By WingEnvy from Los Osos, CA on 05/16/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Good Design, Wicks Away Moisture Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Rohner makes the best socks I've ever used for backpacking, I've never had to wear liners with them. I normally buy the Rohner Trekking socks, but there doens't seem to be any in my size, or any coming in. So I wanted to try these hoping even though they were light hikers, they might be heavy enough for backpacking. They are the same great quality and design, but just a little TOO light for what I need. They do make great socks for shorter hikes and really light weight boots, or hikes with trail shoes.

Fine warm-weather hiking socks By BSquared from Dameron, Maryland on 04/21/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Wicks Away Moisture Best Uses: Backpacking, Daily Use, Hiking, Travel Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Bottom Line: Comments: I bought these specifically for the tropics, to wear under some lightweight Gore-Tex boots. Haven't tried them in the tropics yet, but they work fine as ordinary hiking socks in warm weather. The fleece-like padding on the sole and heel is a little strange looking, but it seems to work well. I usually wear two pairs of socks for hiking, but these seem to be fine by themselves, which I was hoping for because of my warm-weather plans.
