I also used it when I went on vacation. I like all the compartments and that I look like someone from LOST when I carry it. I do wish it had a bit more padding for when I carry it for extended periods of time. Still, it is pretty sweet.

A water resistant bottom might be nice to protect my laptop from setting it down in a puddle (it rains every afternoon in the summer in Florida).
I am also not sure why the front "pouch" is designed to separated from the backpack to reveal Velcro straps?

It's great for school, rock climbing excursions, school trips, camping on the beach and in the mountains of Oman & Washington State. Perfect for his long-haul flights and shorter ones in the ME, Europe, and within the U.S. He is a skateboarder but does not need or use the pack for that purpose. He loves all the pockets for stowing. It was definitely a good choice for him as he tells me so constantly.

I needed a new backpack and for the price, this was a great buy. There are LOTS of pockets lining the sides, actually I think that it is a little TOO many. The main compartment is nice and big, enough for a LOT of books and a 17" laptop like the one I have. The only other downside is that the skateboard carrier is actually not that functional. I tried carrying a board but it slips easliy and is not that effective... oh well. Over all a really nice backpack
