Good Rod, Reasonable Price By Waveslider from Malibu, CA on 05/21/2008 Pros: Accurate Casting, Easy To Transport, Good Tip Action Best Uses: Fly Fishing, Large Fish Describe Yourself: Avid Fisher Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I just got this rod as I was looking for a saltwater rod for the surf as well as a fast action rod for big bass and big flies. This rod seems to cast very efficiently but I find it to be a little heavy in the 8wt I have. I don't consider that bad, per se, since I wanted a fairly stiff action rod and 8wt is not what you would call "light tackle" but it does seem like it might be tiresome to cast all day with a full sink line.
Components seem first rate. I like that the snake guides are a little "bigger" than normal which allows for shooting line and they are coated with something similar to the coating of Lamson's new Litespeed reels.
I caught a 3lb bass (by accident) when test-casting this rod and it played the fish nicely and the fighting butt is very nice.
While I generally feel that fly rods should come in only 2 parts, this rod does admirably in a 4 piece.

By Strada from Seattle, WA on 01/27/2008 Pros: Accurate Casting, Durable, Easy To Transport, Good Tip Action, Sensitive Describe Yourself: Avid Fisher Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is one nice rod for the money. Good crisp casting and the wind doesn't bother it much. Plenty of power to punch the line through the wind. Good sensitivity in detecting the nibbling takes of sea trout on the Puget Sound if you keep the tip in the water during the retrieve. Good strength in battling the runners and jumpers. The rod is light and I can cast all day without it feeling heavy.

The finish is tough but beautiful. The action is moderately fast and easy to cast.
