Good quality cork, hardware and rod tube. The 5wt casts extremely well at 20ft but will also easily throw a distance cast. The only con is that Albright won't honor any warranty on these rods since they are close-outs.

I have built all my other rods, but at the STP price, the components alone would cost more,so I gave the EXS 10' 6 weight a try as a light steelhead rod. Casts so well, I signed up for this 9' 4 weight too. They both cast crisply and easily up close, but have the power to accurately shoot line long distances as well. Looking forward to many pleasurable days on Western rivers and lakes.
Cast as good as they look By Tater from Ft. Collins, CO on 09/12/2007 Pros: Accurate Casting, Beautiful Fit and Finish, Durable, Easy To Transport, Good Tip Action, Sensitive Best Uses: Fly Fishing, Large Fish, River Fishing, Small Fish Describe Yourself: Professional Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These rods are absolutely gorgeous. The External Scrim is like nothing I've ever seen on a fly rod. The ultra high modulous graphite is really protected by the quartz and unlike previous generations of this technology, the coating is very light. I've used the EXS rods ranging from the 2wt to the 12wt, and they all perform beautifully. The Saltwater rods have a nice blueish tint to them. Casting the EXS is a little different than some others, but better. Not super fast action, but fast. After about 5-10 casts, I fell into their feel really well and didn't have a problem. Great distance rod and a great accuracy rod. Lighter weights are very delicate in presentation. I used a WF F line on all and was very pleased with the match.
