You'd look hotter in a helmet ;-)
By treknottVerified Purchaser from Sunny, CA on 07/05/2008
Pros:
Comfortable Fit, Good Ventilation, Highly Adjustable, Lightweight, Tough
Best Uses:
All-Around
Describe Yourself:
Avid Cyclist
Sizing:
Feels true to size
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I have a Giro head, my fiance has a Bell helmets shaped head. Whatever shape your head is in keep it in good shape with a helmet. The Giro eclipse strangely enough is lighter than it's next pricier cousin, yet it has plenty of vents to keep you cool calm and collected. And it comes in a bright visible red. I get a new helmet every year or every crash ... whichever happens first. And while I support and like to buy all my gear from my LBS (that's local bike shop, y'all) the prices here can't be beat.

This is a very nice helmet, lightweight, comfortable, and well-ventilated. A bug-screen would be good, but you can't have it all at this price.

Great helmet

Best Uses:

Describe Yourself:
Avid Cyclist, Competitive Cyclist, Triathlete
Sizing:
Feels true to size
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I wear this helmet for general road cycling and triathlons. The adjustability is excellent, not only in precision, but also in quantity (as it is on high end Giro helmets). In my opinion, this is as good as it gets without spending over $100 for a Pneumo or Atmos. Really, the Eclipse on sale is the pinnacle of dollar value in high end road biking helmets. It's well worth it. The helmet is light and the ventilation is superb. As for the concern by the other reviewer about strength, the helmet itself is no weaker than other similar bicycle helmets--all bicycle helmets are designed to crack under hard impact, destroying the helmet but saving your head. As is required by law, this helmet is CPSC certified. Like any good helmet, this one should not be tossed around, dropped on hard surfaces, etc. etc. As a road helmet, overall, this is both a great helmet and a great value.

Pricey item without the bells!
By BlondeBladerVerified Purchaser from Albany NY on 09/12/2007
Pros:
Good Ventilation, Highly Adjustable, Lightweight
Cons:
No protective cloth, No visor, Weak
Best Uses:
All-Around, Inline skating, Warm Weather
Describe Yourself:
Casual/ Recreational, Weekly inline skater
Sizing:
Feels half size too small
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Comments:
As a weekly experienced skater, I always wear a helmet, but havent had need to purchased new in a few years. I wanted a helmet that had both plenty of ventilation and lightweight and I was willing to pay the price. I wasnt disappointed in my needs, but am surprised that as a high end product,it neither comes with visor or cloth protector as did my old Bell. In addition, I have to return for size as its too small.
