Cons:
Very loud
Best Uses:
Car Camping, High Altitude
Describe Yourself:

What Is Your Gear Style:

Bottom Line:

Comments:
The stove is solidly built and functions just as well as any other white gas stove. There is a slight lag in the flame control knob and the flame response. Even after turning the knob completely close, there is still a residual fuel that continues to burn for at least another minute. Be warned however that comparing to other stove, this one is the loudest that I've used. It's deafening.

HAven't used it yet, but based on a good look, it seems well designed, and should work well for many uses for a long time. I like the fuel options and may get a lantern. I did a lot of research before I bought this and everyone was happy/very happy with it. It is an older model but doesn't seem too different from the later ones. On the Primus website you can download a decent manual for this unit (Himalaya Multi Fuel is on the cover page). The instructions that come with it are weak. The company is solid and contiues to stock replacement parts for it. I even got a quick turn around from the US rep when I asked them about it. I'll probably buy some spare parts to be sure it stays in use, any recommendations? I bought from STP because of the customer service after the sale, and knowing that I woouldn't be using for a few months. Happy Trails from a Happy Cooker.

Great backpacking stove
By Slimbo from Woodbury, MN on 3/20/2008

Cons:
Can't Simmer, Poor temperature control
Best Uses:
Backpacking, Hiking
Describe Yourself:
Casual/ Recreational
What Is Your Gear Style:
Minimalist
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Comments:
I bought this stove to take to Philmont Scout Ranch in the summer of 2007. The altitudes my group hiked were in the range of 6,000 ft to 12,000 ft. We use d this stove every night and the major difficulty of using it was the length it took to boil water at that altitude. Everything other feature of this stove is great. The variety of fuels able to be burned is nice and the option to choose between canister and refillable fuel bottles is nice as well. Overall, this is a great stove despite the extra time it takes to boil water at high altitudes.

Easy to use, unless you have a brain f
By Supersquirrel from Pearland, Tx on 3/14/2008
Pros:
Compact, Easy To Clean, Easy to Light, Lightweight, Powerful
Cons:
Poor temperature control
Best Uses:
Backpacking
Describe Yourself:
Casual/ Recreational
What Is Your Gear Style:
Comfort Driven
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Comments:
Easy, to use. We like the multi fuel option and usually take white gas refillable cylinders since I like knowing exactly how much fuel there is. Use with a light weight(3oz) aluminum diffuser for temp control reduces burning. We even baked yeast bread. We had one issue when the small deflecter fell of in the bag and didn't realize it
was missing and the fuel shot up in the air.

Good Stove
By JPVerified Reviewer from Dobbs Ferry, NY on 2/7/2008
Pros:
Compact, Easy To Clean, Lightweight, Powerful
Cons:
Difficult to Light, Poor temperature control, Unstable
Best Uses:
Backpacking, Car Camping, High Altitude
Describe Yourself:
Avid Adventurer
What Is Your Gear Style:
Minimalist
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Comments:
Good stove and I am glad I own it. The only issues I have with it are (1) the conical windscreen provided started to split in small ways causing some sharp metal to stick out and (2) lighting is a bit of a problem because you can't see the fuel coming out and also because the gas can cause the matches to blow out sometimes, and (3) the stove is very loud. I mentioned the stove is a bit unstable and I say that because it really needs to be on level sturdy ground to work best.

I've been mountain backpacking for more than 30 years and still have my brass Seva Stove; but this one ignites easier, burns as hot (using white gas), is safer, lighter and more stable. Like the Seva it burns like a blow torch,(can be loud ), and works well even @ high altitude.
Great stove!
