Comments: The shoe is stylish but stiff and lacks adequate arch support for a real day hike. It runs not quite a half-size short which I found odd since I have 2 pair of Merrell shoes and don't have that problem. I just adjusted the thickness of the sock worn. The shoe is fine for wearing for several hours but it lacks the characteristics that are synonymous with the Merrell name.
Ecstatic, yet disappointed

Comments: I bought a pair of these exact shoes (different color) 4 years ago, and wanted another pair for an upcoming trip to Disneyworld. I was ecstatic to find them on this site, and bought them in the same size as before, immediately. I wore them a couple of days and thought the tightness and too small feeling was due to them being new. I wore them off and on for 2 full weeks before my trip, then took them along with me for the intense amount of walking I would be doing. I was very disappointed that these never really "broke in". They felt too short for my toes because they kept rubbing the front of the shoe. I normally wear a size 7 1/2, and I ordered an 8, the same size as I had in the exact same Merrell's before, but I could've used another 1/2 size up. I don't know if Merrell has changed their sizing in the past few years, but be advised. By the time I had worn them several days to try and break them in, I thought it was too late to make a return, since they were obviously worn. In the days that I did wear them, they rubbed against both little toes as well. These, for some strange reason, were not as "out of the box" comfortable as the ones I had bought previously. I will be trying a different Merrell style next time.
Comfortable the first wearing.

Comments: Great shoe, very comfortable. They did feel a half size too small, but with thinner socks they're perfect. Heel and ball cushioning is great, but I did add extra arch support. I did some day hiking in the mountains and they were wonderful...the Vibram soles were very grippy on the rocks. I'd like to order a second pair in a different color!

Comments: I walk regularly, so "casual/recreational" fails to describe my use. And the other two are too extreme for my use.

Comments: I owned these shoes once already and it took years traveling all over the world to put a dent in them. It was finally time to replace them and I'm buying the exact same pair again! Have never gotten one blister ever with these shoes. Can't say enough about 'em - love them!
