My first pair of Patagonia shoes and I'm impressed with the build quality, aggressive Vibram soles with numerous lugs, lightweight and more cushioning than most boots (makes it plush and comfortable). My feet are wide and the medium width fits my feet comfortably (no pressure points to chaff). It runs HALF A SIZE SMALL - I usually wear size 10 and ordered 10.5, which fits perfectly. I wore it yesterday walking around town - it grips well on asphalt and concrete (although not as well as the 2-material soles found on some trail running shoes). The only con is the cushioning makes the shoes less breathable so I won't wear this on hot summer days. Much of the top is coated canvas, which makes it flexible and is supposed to be waterproof. I'll find out about this and its performance on the trail and crossing small streams this weekend.

These boots need very little break in time. I wear them hiking, climbing and going out. They look great!!! They are a little stiff at first but they will start to give gradually. They were given to me as a fathers day present. Great gift!!!!

Well designed shoes
By BVerified Purchaser from CT on 06/19/2008
Pros:
Ankle Support, Arch Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Great Traction
Best Uses:
Day Hiking, Everyday, Harsh Terrain, Light Loads
Describe Yourself:
Avid Adventurer
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Well-designed boot. Very light for the amount of support they provide, extremely grippy sole. The lace holders are some of the best I've used; they don't allow the thread to back out easily and provide a very snug fit around the ankle. I usually wear a 10.5 or 11, and my foot width is right between a C and D. Wearing one mid-weight hiking sock, the 10.5 fits well; the 11 is definitely too long. I'd say this shoe is good for people with a D or wider foot. C's would probably have to use a thick sock or an insert. Patagonia makes great products, and this is no exception.

These are GREAT! Awesome Price (as always...Thanks Sierra). The description says runs small, but i don't believe they do. I bought both a 10.5 and 11, due to low quanity, and the 10.5 fit great! (which is what i usualy wear). The boot has a great fit and wonderful traction. Can't go wrong with patagonia!
