I feel ripped off and so did my boots By stone face dilly from canmore ab on 10/01/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Great Traction, Lightweight, Multi-Use Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: 7-18-08 My Merrel’s were ship out to me. Arriving [...] I was in love with my new kicks! I was sure I has made a good choice even after the small knobs on my friends Vibram soles began falling off one knob at a time. His shoes were also Merrel’s. My kicks saw only a small handful of summits before the ball of the sole came off. The hole thing ripped rite off! I was left to descend with only a small piece of cardboard between my foot and the rugged rock of Mount Babel. This happened 29-10-08. 3 months?? I expected more a lot more.
Good fit, support and traction. By River Runner from WV on 07/30/2008 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch support, Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Non-slip sole, Stable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Backcountry, Cold weather, Day hikes, Weak ankles, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I have a high arch, wide front foot, slim ankles and ankle problems. This boot fits great; good support to arch and cut high enough to support ankle without doing ankle brace.
This boot is insulated and definitely a winter boot. However, the fit and support has been so good that I am enduring the warm feet for the security.
Also, noting the traction to be very good and stability (side to side)very good. If you have ankle/arch problems, try this boot.

Usually insultated boots are heavy and very uncomfortable for me. These felt as comfortable as my regular hiking boots. I can't comment on durability as I have not had them long enough to judge, but they seem to be holding up just fine.

Not overly heavy for all these benefits. True to normal Merrell sizing, go with regular size. Attractive, functional, and very warm and comfy right out of the box but I especially love the stable and secure feel while climbing up or going down icy, slushy, wet gravel mountain roads.
