By PJhiker from Minneapolis,MN on 08/17/2008 Pros: Lightweight, Waterproof Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought the XL so I could wear them over clothing. On a 5'5'' frame the pants were about 4" too long (I was walking on them down to the soles of my feet). Bought these to keep me dry while hiking through the Amazon rainforest. This will be WAY too loud when trying to see animal life, and obnoxious for normal walking with loud swishing. Seems waterproof enough and definately light weight.
By outdoor gal from Oakland, CA on 07/31/2008 Pros: Durable, Lightweight, Waterproof Best Uses: Backcountry, Kayaking Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Gear Usage: Being in the rain Inseam: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These pants worked great for being in Alaska's constant rain. I stayed dry while hiking, kayaking and zodiacing. I layered with long underwear or other pants for warmth.
By Shelly the Salmon Seeker from Toronto, ON on 06/22/2008 Pros: Breathable, Lightweight, Waterproof Cons: Not Enough Pockets or Features Best Uses: Backcountry, Boating Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Inseam: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I took these on a fishing trip and they were great. They kept me dry in the rain and have enough room to put extra pants underneath for warmth. Once the sun came out and the weather warmed up I was feeling good in the breathable material and did not feel the need to change into something lighter. I just wish they had an extra pocket but would still buy them again. Great value for money.
By cycling commuter from Lynden, WA on 06/10/2008 Pros: Lightweight, Warm, Waterproof Best Uses: Backcountry, Casual Wear, Cycling Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend I ordered these pants because I've started biking to work more and live in a rainy climate. I am impressed at how light they are (it hardly feels like I'm wearing them, or carrying them around in my pack) and yet so durable and totally water proof. The rain just beads up on them and rolls right off. I have not worn them for hours at a time, but I assume they would work the same.
They seem very durable even though I have only owned them for a couple of weeks, but I expect that they will wear well. They do not breathe very well, but I find this an advantage that keeps me warm in the damp, cold rain.
I had one disappointment in these pants. I had thought that the zipper at the bottom outside of the leg zipped open, but it is a gusset instead. However, the legs are plenty wide for getting shoes in and out of. I was also impressed with how long the legs are because I am very tall and I find that the pant legs are long enough to cover my ankles very well while I'm cycling.
Outside pocket is very handy for keeping stuff-sack at hand and pants role up and fit into sack very easily for packing.
These pants get an A+ from me! I'm so glad I have them!
By bakerstorm from Oswego, NY on 06/09/2008 Pros: Durable, Lightweight, Warm, Waterproof Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living, Winter Sports Inseam: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought these to use as rain gear on the sailboat. Very easy to move in, not too stiff. I did wear thermals underneath and we all stayed dry!!!
Good, but not waterproof. By mhfm from Carlsbad, CA on 06/07/2008 Pros: Durable, Lightweight, Warm Best Uses: Bicycle touring Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Inseam: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Comfortable and practical but after a day of biking in the rain my legs still got wet. That said, they are lightweight, pack easily, and dry quickly.
By Hudson Highlander from Cornwall on Hudson, NY on 05/30/2008 Pros: Good for Hiking, Lightweight, Waterproof Cons: Feels a bit like plastic Best Uses: Casual Wear, Hiking British Columbia Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Gear Usage: Rainy Day Hiking Inseam: Feels true to length Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Ordered a large even though I wear a size 4. The size worked well because I intend to wear over several light layers of hiking clothes. They are light weight, but feel a bit like plastic. They say they are breathable so I will have to see. Price was right so I will give them a try.
great fit for woman's body By Maritime Hiker from Juneau, Alaska on 05/27/2008 Pros: Lightweight, Waterproof Describe Yourself: Advanced Inseam: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend I ordered these because I wanted a lightweight pair of rainpants for backpacking (I live in a rainy, maritime climate). They are very lightweight. Not sure how durable they'll be, but they were inexpensive, so if they only last a couple of years, that's okay.
Also, the fit is fantastic, much better than the last pair I had, which was unisex, and had too much room in the waist and not enough in the hips. Perfect fit, allows for full range of movement from clambering up a steep slope to squatting.
I would buy this product again. By Lynn from Camarillo CA on 05/23/2008 Pros: Lightweight, Waterproof Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living Inseam: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Going to use in the Artic.
An economical, packable choice By Tinkerbell from La Crosse, WI on 05/15/2008 Pros: Breathable, Lightweight, Waterproof Best Uses: Hiking backpacking Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: A good, economical choice for the dollar for a packable rain pant. I also own the Hurricane line packable jacket and am happy with the features offered in both items.
