The coat was boxy in shape. One coat was definitely a second.

Runs large, but that makes it great for layering. Fits over a suit without binding. A very versatile coat that I hope to use for years.

Plenty of pockets for glasses, cell, gloves, keys etc

Only glitch was one button, which was sewn on about 3/8" too high for the coat to lie flat. Light in weight, very nice cut, excellent wool, and a great buy! I ordered a 40, which fits perfectly over a suitjacket; my suits are usually size 42, and outerwear intended to wear over a suitjacket often runs large, and this coat is no exception. So the instructions are right: go one size down from your usual size. If you do, this coat will be roomy enough to be worn over a suitjacket, and still fit fine if you're not dressed in a suit. The length is great; I find it runs about 1" over a suitjacket's bottom. The sleeves were perfect for me (I'm 5' 9" tall and wear a 16.5 x 33 shirt, and the sleeves on this coat are a bit shorter than many topcoats).

In fact, it cannot be your only winter layer. But it is just right without being too warm and bulky when worn with a sweater or jacket. My opinion: those who try to dress with only one warmth layer don't know how to dress warmly but lightly. My winter daily wear for 3rd season. Current price well higher than I paid.
