Comments:
Wear these every day during the summer--they're great! Comfortable, easy to adjust, breathes. Had a little trouble figuring out the right size since I usually get a 10 to allow for my wide feet but since I got wide width, the 9 was just right.

O.K., I submitted a review on 7-10-08 saying that these sandals were definitely much longer than normal sizes, and that they weren't really all that wide. I take all that back, and I apologize if I mislead. I hope this review clarifies rather than further complicates. I will endeavor to not submit any other reviews until I've used the product for awhile. I wear an 11-11.5 ee Allen Edmonds dress shoe and they fit comfortably and loosely (I make that reference, because everyone knows those shoes are sized traditionally). I wear a 12.5 or sometimes even 13 Nike basketball shoe (Nike destroyed our Nation's shoe sizing system). After I submitted my earlier review, I changed my mind and kept the 11 4e and returned the 10 4e, and I'm glad I did. I just spent several days at a Cub Scout camp on the Oregon Coast (the scouts own about 4 miles of Oregon Coast and the thousand or so acres of forest that abuts it--pretty incredible place--they bought it for 12k in the 1920's). These sandals are awesome! I wore them with socks, and they fit perfectly, weren't too long, and I had no trouble with my toe popping out. Loose and comfortable, but stable scrambling and climbing through tide pools, on drift wood, up sand cliffs, etc. I wore them barefoot in the tide pools and on barnacle covered rocks, and they weren't too wide. They are a nice soft leather, and they dried quickly. If I were going to wear them barefoot all the time, I'd have probably wanted the 10's. I have a wide foot (e-ee), so if you want them snug on the sides, don't order the wides. Or, do what I did, order two pairs, and return the size you don't want. It's worth the effort. I'm ordering a second pair as soon as I finish this review, so there'll be one less 11 4e for ya'll to purchase.

Heed the warnings on sizing!! I've worn Dunham 12 in other sandals (big and roomy--but I still wear them after years of use to my wife's chagrine). I wear an 11-11.5 ee Allen Edmonds or other traditionally sized shoe. I ordered two pairs of these sandals, an 11 4e and a 10 4e. I wouldn't have believed it, but I'm sending the 11 4e back. It's too long. The 10 4e fits just fine and while the 11 wasn't "way too" long, the narrow toe guard (lip) allowed my big toe to pop out which would have become quickly quite irritating. I assume they're durable, because I've never had a Dunham product that wasn't. But again, heed the warnings on sizing, because as others have posted, if you get a size too long, your big toe will continually pop up out of the toe guard/lip. Also, if you're usually a D or E width, have no fear ordering the "4e," because the last is really not that wide, and if you're like me, the last thing you need is a snug fitting sandal.

I bought these for my husband. He is very hard to buy shoes for. I have purchased several from this site for him. These are the only ones that made the grade. For one reason, they are one of few that came in a wide width. "The best shoe you have ever bought me" he says.

Pros:
Breathes Well, Lightweight
Cons:
Poor design, Ugly
Best Uses:
Casual Wear
Describe Yourself:
Casual, Conservative
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Comments:
These sandals aren't terrible but have a serious design flaw which is the open hole directly above the toes. If the fit is at all loose, it's easy for your toes to pop up through the hole. Other than that, they are comfortable and the price is right. I use them around the home mostley, as the makers couldn't resist using orange tabs to ruin the looks of otherwise a nice looking sandal.
