By Jim from Seattle, WA on 08/13/2008 Cons: Poor Material or Construction, Shallow pockets Best Uses: Backpacking, Camping, Casual Wear, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Fly zipper broke (separated) during first day of wearing. For an outdoor pants, doesn't seem very robust.

I have several shells, shorts, and shirts by them and they just last and look good through the decades. Yes, decades. They're that good. These convertible pants are of the same breed.
Get a pair. You'll be happy you did.

By Snowboarder Victim from Boston, MA on 03/18/2008 Best Uses: Backpacking, Camping, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend This review will probably only be useful to a few people--I hope so--but I think my experience will be very relevant to those few.
I bought these after I broke my leg (fibula just above the ankle). I have another pair of convertible pants that I bought from Sierra Trading Post 8 or 10 years ago. That pair of pants is getting tons of use while I have the cast/boot on my leg. However, the Sportif pants have a very short leg. They might work well if someone had an over-the-knee cast, but my break is down by my ankle.
If you are like me and in a cast or boot below the knee, look for convertible pants with a longer inseam.
By Silver Fox from Princeton NJ on 03/17/2008 Pros: Breathable, High-Quality Material and Stitching, Stylish Best Uses: Camping, Casual Wear Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Sportif does a great tailoring job. I bought these cotton pants to complement the Sportif nylon convertible pants I use for backpacking and overnights where I need quick dry and lightest weight.
By FindingBalance from New York, NY on 03/08/2008 Pros: Breathable, High-Quality Material and Stitching Best Uses: Backpacking, Camping, Casual Wear, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: My husband is very pleased with these pants. He wore them when we went hiking in the Catskills and they were comfortable and have great functional pockets...so he's looking forward to wearing them on our upcoming trip to Peru. They're also good looking enough to be worn casually as cargo pants in the city.
