Comments: I would rate these 5 star if they were water proof. I wore them in the house for several hours to be sure the fit was good; put them on this morning, took a VERY steep, rocky hike and felt like a mountain goat. They are very stable and non-slip on boulders. Also, the type of sole works great against sharp rocks, etc. I have a neuroma on my right foot ~ the sole works great against sending an electric shock in my foot. I purchased them 1/2 size bigger than my street shoe. My feet are narrow and low volume. If you have a bulkier, wider foot I think you would do well ordering a full-size larger. [...]

I bought these early to break in for a hiking trip later this year, but no break-in seems to be needed. I wear them to work now, as they are very comfy and cushy and feel sturdy and stable without being stiff. I knew they wouldn't be water resistant and they did get wet in heavily dewy grass, but I am thinking of spraying the mesh part with waterproofing spray.
*Order one size up from your everyday shoes.
Great 'sneaker' hikers - highly recommended and look great too!

These boots have great arch support. Much higher than any other boot I've tried. I really wanted water resistant but settled on these (quick dry) because of the high arch support. My feet feel completely supported without any added weight (the boots are very light).
Usually I buy hiking/athletic shoes half a size larger than my regular shoe size; however this pair I had to order one and a half sizes larger. For example I wear an 8. My hiking/athletic shoes are usually 8.5; these I ordered 9.5. I think this is because they are narrow.
IF these boots were water resistant and had the inner smoothness of Merrill, I'd give them FIVE stars.
Great boot for all but heaviest loads!

Comments: Out of the box, I wore these hiking in cold, wet, even snowy conditions, also used them with snowshoes, and found them remarkably comfortable. Good stability for uneven terrain. Though my feet weren't completely dry, they were warm. Lacing system holds well at all points. Other reviewers are right about fit: they run half size small. As with all boots, go one half-size up from your street shoe size, then add another half for these. (I wear a 7 1/2; bought an 8 1/2 and they're perfect.) Width is a true medium across the ball of foot but heel is snug enough for someone whose foot narrows there as mine does. These are a fabulous buy!
