Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Comments: I wanted two pairs of Ex Officio socks impregnated with insecticide. This pair is a different style from the first pair I bought (Ex Officio Hiker Socks--Buzz Off). Since I wasn't familiar with Ex Officio socks, I figured I'd spread the wealth. However, these two sock styles are very similar. Both are midweight. Both wick. Both have bug juice. Both are comfortable. I haven't field-tested either pair yet. However, I would not go out on a day hike with either pair without also wearing a pair of sock liners, if for no other reason than for the extra padding and to fill out your hiking boots. The main reason to buy these socks is because they repel insects. Otherwise, their list price seems wildly overinflated.

Comments: My personal favorite of the 3 types of socks I ordered from you. The weight of these is "just right"--not too thin or too thick--so they felt the most comfortable. Laundered nicely, too.

Good if you have toothpick legs
By happily lost from colorado on 6/10/2008
Cons:
Too tight around the calf
Describe Yourself:
Avid Adventurer
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Comments: I'm a national park ranger and hoped to keep ticks from climbing up my legs. But these are so tight in the calf, that only a person with toothpick calves could wear them. Serious athletes with muscular calves would have their circulation cut off.

One Pair to Hike In, Another to Swim In
By Pat the Mom from Wyomissing, PA on 6/6/2008
My daughter will wear one of the pairs of socks, in the size I ordered on an African safari that includes hiking. Unfortunately the second pair that I had ordered, turned out to be a bigger size than I had ordered. We did not have enough time to return it before she left on the trip, and get the correct size back, so she will use the second pair to keep her feet warm at night. Can't say how the socks rate quality-wise.

Comments: I use this product backpacking and hiking. I wear size 12 and was worried about the fit, since that is at the top of the L size range, but the socks fit perfectly. The venting cools the top of my foot as advertised. I have used other Buzz Off products for years, and they really do keep the chiggers, ticks, and mosquitoes at bay in Alabama.
