By Sonnet from Cody, WY on 12/29/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Easy To Load, Highly Adjustable, Large Capacity Best Uses: Day Hikes, Extended Hikes, Light Loads, Travel Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Great pack. Got it for my boyfriend and it fits his long torso great. Really adjustable to go from a large pack to a smaller pack. Only compliant is it is going to be hard if we are rock climbing with the pack on because the shoulder straps cut into your neck... other than that it is a great pack!

By happy hiker from Anchorage, alaska on 11/23/2008 Pros: Durable, Good Back Support, Good Padding Cons: Difficult to Pack, Not Enough Compartments Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Pack fits my long torso without being heavy or bulky. I will usse it mostly in the summer and that is a way off for us in Alaska. I look forward to using this new pack.
By Steelcitytom from Pittsburgh, PA on 11/07/2008 Pros: Durable, Easy to Pack, Good Back Support, Good Padding, Strong Zippers Cons: Not Enough Compartments Best Uses: Backpacking, Camping, Weekend Trips Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I never backed pack before, This seemed like a good pack, had good reviews and at the right price. I think its good for an overnight trip, but if you are doing anything extended you will need something bigger, and that kind of bums me out that when I do the extended trip next year, I will need to buy a new pack, and really- who needs two?

Needs some "hanger straps" By Mustang from Columbia, MD on 08/08/2008 Pros: Durable, Easy to Pack, Good Back Support Best Uses: Backpacking, Camping, Extended Travel, Weekend Trips Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The sortie is a good size for the right gear, but external straps on the bottom and sides would be very handy for approaches. Would like to secure bulkier items and then drop them off at the laager before proceeding.
By Doc from Tuscaloosa, Alabama on 07/29/2008 Pros: Durable, Good Back Support, Great Organization, Relatively light weight, Strong Zippers Best Uses: Backpacking, Camping, Short Travel, Weekend Trips Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I have the larger version of this pack- the foray, and have used it around the globe. The sortie is a smaller version, but unfortunately the harness lacks some of the adjustability of the foray. In my case the shoulder straps really rub against my neck. (My neck is a 17 shirt size. My shoulders are pretty wide- your mileage may vary....) This is a shame, as the pack is a real winner otherwise.
