I've always been a small purse person, so this is definitely at least twice as big as I am used to. Right now, there isn't much in it but I think it will be just the right size for baby gear. I've fit the items I plan to carry and it fills out nicely. It could also accomodate files, newspapers and magazines although such items might become smooshed since this is a soft construction shoulderbag.
The Amber color is very pretty, a good year-round color that will complement any color I wear. I don't like switching out bags. The color is pretty true to the image shown, it is a butterscotch candy tan type color.
The leather is soft, and has a pebbly texture. I think it will hold up well over time.
The inside is lined in a slightly darker tan satiny fabric. There are two large internal side pouches, one with a zipper, and a cell phone pouch as well as an organizer pouch. Externally, there are two large compartments on the ends. I can easily get a bottle in each one.
The straps are just long enough to keep the bag tucked in tight under your arm, but not so tight as to chafe. You could probably still fit it onto your shoulder even with an overcoat, if it isn't too bulky. Long strap bags always seem to slide off of my shoulder so this is important to me.
My only negative comment is that this bag is not a bag that will stand upright when placed on the ground - you'll want to hook the straps onto something. It's really too pretty to throw on the ground anyway!
I spent a lot of time looking for the perfect bag - I spent more than I wanted to, but since I hold onto handbags for a long time, it will prove to be a good investment. As usual, Sierra Trading Post did a great job and offered a great price.

Classic, expensive-looking bag. By Lesa from Maryland on 07/16/2008 Pros: Attractive, Enough Compartments, Good Organization, Good Strap Length, High Quality Describe Yourself: Career, Classic, Stylish Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: A great, well-made bag with high quality leather and a strap that is the perfect length for tucking under your arm. Nice internal and external compartments. My only complaint is the size -- it's quite large. Almost immense, actually. Considering its size, it isn't particularly heavy, but it will be difficult to keep from putting too much stuff in it.
