percussion ranch doorbell not loud eough By berkshire grandma from Great Barrington, MA on 08/14/2008 Describe Yourself: Bargain Hunter, High-End Shopper, Practical, Stylish Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I've heard Woodstock wind chimes and liked them so I had hopes for this doorbell. However, it didn't make enough sound to be heard when the front door was closed, so it was useless for us. Maybe as a warning before entering an office or other indoor room it might be useful. It wasn't worth sending it back so I'll give it to someone who might use it indoors.
More for looks than function By twocatsintheyard from Los Angeles, CA on 08/01/2008 Pros: Easy to Install, Pleasant Ring Tone Describe Yourself: Bargain Hunter, Practical, Stylish Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I think it's cute. Haven't hung it yet, but I don't think it could replace a real doorbell.
By Enjoy Life from Adirondacks, NY on 07/23/2008 Describe Yourself: Bargain Hunter Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Doesn't meet Woodstock Chimes quality for percussion! Not loud enough to hear inside.
By Capistrano from Newport, Oregon on 07/17/2008 Pros: Easy to Install, Pleasant Ring Tone, Volume Level Best Uses: Large Homes, Offices, Small Homes Describe Yourself: Bargain Hunter, High-End Shopper Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is a hand bell, as much as a chime. It looks great indoor or out, as it is not loud, and the wind seldom blows hard enough for independent contact. There is no ball inside, the beautiful sound comes from the casting being hit by the branch "hammer", which hangs from the main structure. We use it as a door bell, for those who wish to enter, they just pull the branch for a lovely chime.
Works as a 'call to dinner bell' too. By Snowbunny from Vancouver Island, B.C. and Newcastle, WA on 07/09/2008 Pros: Easy to Install, Nature design, Patina finish Describe Yourself: Bargain Hunter, High-End Shopper, Practical, Stylish Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: We're using it as a bell to call them in for dinner. The sound is reaching across the garden and a good ways from the house. Very nice. It is a little hard to get it to swing from the end piece up to the bell...but worth it. Only need to get it to ding once and the sound carries.
This says 'Welcome to our home' By Gnattily from Nashville, TN on 07/07/2008 Pros: Aesthetic Appeal, Easy to Install, Pleasant Ring Tone Best Uses: Back door, Small Homes Describe Yourself: Bargain Hunter, Eclectic, Practical Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: We've put this at the back door where there was no doorbell, and it serves to let us know when someone comes to that entrance. The clear bell tone is pleasant to hear, and the item's unique look and mechanism make it an object of delight. It's a nice way to greet guests and set expectations for the aesthetic they can expect to find inside the house.
By Tylers Grampa from Santa Barbara, CA. on 06/23/2008 Pros: Attractive Design, Durable, Easy To Install Cons: Looks great but no tone Describe Yourself: Practical, Stylish Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Item looks great but unfortunately that's it. The design doesn't allow the knocker to hit the bell properly so at best you may think that a woodpecker is chewing on your door.
By Babs from Santa Barbara CA on 06/20/2008 Pros: Attractive Design, Durable, Easy To Clean, Easy To Install Describe Yourself: Practical Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Appears well made. The leaf and chain are heavy enough not to ring the bell in the wind. It was very quick and simple to install.
