The Marmot Tamarack Jacket is a great-looking jacket and seems to be very well-constructed. It is a waterproof shell with nice mesh lining, but you can also zip-in liners, such as the Marmot Reactor fleece jacket. The fit is good (the sleeves are a tad long, but would be right for climbing).
However, the handwarmer pockets zip _up_ to close, not good for outerwear, IMHO. If you snag the zipper pull - while skiing in the trees, for example - the pocket could open. The handwarmer pockets on all my other jackets (including older Marmot jackets) zip down to close.
Otherwise, a very nice jacket at a great price.
