Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: MBT (Masai Barefoot Technology) recommends that one wear the sandal or shoe for a short period at first to get used to the shoe. It is wise to follow the advise because wearing MBT's is different than any other sandal or shoe. The sandal or shoe forces one to walk straight and upright, which is hard at first because of the natural tendency for one to overcorrect for balancing when wearing the sandal or shoe. The sole of the shoe is curved and this curve in the sole makes one feel as though one is going to fall. The curve in the sole is the basis for the working of MBT's. This curve in the sole allows different muscles to be worked when walking in MBT's, which is different than when wearing any other type shoe. It takes about a week to get used to MBT's if one doesn't get too tired wearing them. The longer one wears them in any given day, the less time it will take to develop the correct muscles. I suggest that anyone considering buying MBT's go to the MBT web site at MBT-info.com to learn more about MBT's.
I own both the sandal and the low sport shoe. I had pain on the soles of both feet, in both ankles, in the back of my legs, and in my lower back. It only took two days of wearing the sandals to get complete pain relief. I either wear the sandals or the shoes every day, and I have not had any further pain and my posture has improved. MBT's work, and I have searched far and wide for a sandal or shoe that will give this flat footed old man (68-well, not that old) pain relief, and there is no other sandal or shoe that I have found that has the design that allows for the correct exercise of the muscles to relieve pain just by wearing the sandals or shoes. The price may be high, but paying the high price is definitely worth it because of the pain relief and comfort that MBT's provide. You will find that you will not want to be without your MBT's for very long if you have to wear any other shoe other than MBT's. It is also fortunate that MBT makes different styles of shoes so that those who have to wear a dress shoe or work shoe or boot can buy an MBT dress shoe or boot, a sneaker type shoe, and a sandal, and be without pain all the time.
