Alps Mountaineering |
| Dennis Brune started Alps Mountaineering in rural Missouri with one goal in mind: to offer performance-oriented outdoor gear at an affordable price. A truly homegrown business with a highly qualified staff, Alps Mountaineering listens to its consumers and designs accordingly, incorporating customer suggestions into their designs for packs, tents, sleeping bags, and other outdoor gear. All products are made of premium materials and tested in multiple outdoor environments—from the Grand Canyon to the Appalachian Trail—to assure that they are worthy of the company’s lifetime guarantee. Alps Mountaineering defines value not so much as "getting what you pay for" but "getting more than you pay for." |

Gets lots of jealous looks at the beach By J from Carlsbad, CA on 09/19/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Easy To Set Up, Fly Works Well, Lightweight, Sturdy Cons: Fiberglass poles, Short weak stakes Best Uses: Beach, Car Camping, Hiking Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: On Tamarack Beach, lots of folks stop to ask where to get one. Lots of beach shade at a light weight, especially compared to the usual beach shelters and umbrellas.
Tends to want to turn into a parachute and fly at times.
You MUST anchor corner(s) and/or guy line(s)if there's wind. We're using nylon sacks filled with sand. Stakes that come with it are useless in sand.
Haven't tried it in really big wind...yet.
By shovelhoe from South Lake Tahoe CA. on 09/15/2008 Pros: Easy To Set Up, Fly Works Well Describe Yourself: Outdoor Professional What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: For a three season tent I thought the material was too thin, its more like a summer tent
By gearhead from Detroit on 09/13/2008 Pros: Compact, Lightweight Best Uses: Beach, Campgrounds, Outdoor Events Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: not as easy to set up as similar tables from other brands. lightweight and stable. individual slats bend under weight of typical 2-burner camp stove.
